I am a lucky lady. I have quite a few 'Marvelous Mom' friends. So I have before me plenty of examples of how to be a 'M.M.'
My first example of a M.M. friend is J. She is stylish and quite thin. She knows how to cook the most scrumptious, healthful meals. Yesterday she told me and another of my M.M. friends how she cooked Thai food for dinner the night before. We were quite impressed, and put I it on my mental list of a good M.M. thing.
My husband might like Thai food. But I'm pretty sure my kids wouldn't like it. I learned about a year ago how to make home-made tortillas, refried beans, Spanish rice, Alfredo sauce with garlic (I had never even touched garlic before) and home made Mac n cheese- which happens to be the kids favorite, but because of ALL the butter and cheese, I don't make it that often. Now I feel very accomplished with these things, but I don't make them very often. Why? I don't give myself enough time to fix them before the kids (and hubby) are ravenous. Because I don't have it planed in time.
Another thing I have struggled with in planing healthful meals is i forget to add the veggies I bought to go with the main dish merely from lack of planning. In our conversation J reminded me that I needed to have a menu.
My tip this week from M.M. J is to have a menu, and plan my meals.

My own Mediocre
I decided to start this blog as way to expel, emit, escape, and declare publicly, but privately. I have a family blog but this is blog is just for me.
I started thinking a while ago about me. Who am I? What am I really good at? Who would say, "Only M could do it right". That's when I realized that I'm just mediocre, average, run-of-the-mill, commonplace, ordinary.
Then I got depressed, and did what most of us do, I told my husband what I thought. He did the good dutiful husband thing, and contradicted my complaints. Telling me what a good wife, mother, sister, and professional I was. He went on to tell me all the ways he appreciates me. On a scale of Good Husband Moments he surpassed a 10. I couldn't have asked for anything more and he made me feel very special, and I know that he meant every word he said.
BUT, it wasn't what I was looking for. Don't get me wrong, every girl enjoys an appreciation fest from her hubby. Even though I knew he meant what he said, I still felt the same.
What makes me mediocre to me? Thats a whole other post. Today I'll say what I think is a Marvelous Woman, then I'll know what I need to work on. I'll list it out. (I love lists)
A Marvelous Woman:
-is an exceptional house keeper
-cooks well, healthful and interesting food
-is organised
-is crafty
-can sew
-plays the piano (or an instrument)
-is fit
-volunteers
-thinks of neighbors, and serves them in times of need WITHOUT being asked
These are just a few and they are vague. I might just add to them, but they are what I feel I am not right now. So this blog is the beginning. A place for me to document my journey from Mediocre to MARVELOUS.
